Rating: A

Gary Moore, while never a household name in America, was one of the best blues and rock guitarists on the planet. The music world will mourn his death as he went way before his time.

Eagle Rock Entertainment gets a huge Classic Rock Revisited Salute for releasing this amazing live album, recorded at the London Hippodrome on October 25, 2007.

Gary plays an entire set of Jimi Hendrix classics and is even joined by Jimi’s ex-band mates on three songs. Needless to say, the track listing and guitar playing on this concert will leave you in awe of both the music Hendrix created and the ability of Moore to recreate it.

The concert was part of the launch for the Jimi Hendrix Live at Monterey program that was being held at the time. Gary Moore gave Jimi a tribute that must have had the rock god smiling ear-to-ear in Rock and Roll Heaven, probably reaching for his Fender Strat to jam along.

The album is released separately on CD, DVD and Blu-Ray. The visual aspect of the concert is awesome but having both a CD and either a DVD or Blu-Ray version is recommended.

The concert begins with “Purple Haze” and right away Moore’s skills overtake your senses as he makes time stop. Nothing outside of this performance matters when experiencing it and that is the true test of greatness. Other stand out tracks include “Manic Depression,’ “Foxey Lady,” “Angel,” “Fire,” “Red House” and “Hey Joe.” Closing the show is “Voodoo Child (Slight Return).”

Each of the 12 songs will have you dancing around your living room and cranking it up, time and time again. Yes, this one is THAT good.

If you love Jimi Hendrix and Gary Moore then you bought this one on the first day of its release. If not, what are you waiting for? BUY IT. NOW!
