Rating: A
Jeff Beck will live forever as one of the most genuine and respected guitar heroes of all time. He never was, however, a media darling. Sure…they lauded over Jeff…but he never sought out their attention. Instead he simply shut up and played his guitar…and boy can he play!
Part of what makes this in-depth documentary so damn cool is the we get to hear Jeff speak…and he speaks a lot! His fans learn more about him as a person than they ever knew before. It is the human side of this story that makes it home run…but there is much more.
Jeff is not the only one talking about Jeff Beck. The film also features interviews with Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood, Slash, Jan Hammer, Joe Perry, Beth Hart & many more. Not a bad list of peeps coming out to rally around their friend! Suffice it to say that one says ‘wow’ many times during the viewing as musical icon after musical icon comes on the screen.
The documentary tells the entire story of Jeff Beck. He was a childhood friend with Jimmy Page! His love of guitar and hot rods are both simply born into him. The movie explores both sides of his personality. The bands are, of course, covered in depth with amazing footage. Jeff’s experimental side, pop side, creative side and wild side are all fleshed out in this in-depth movie.
This is an easy review as there is nothing bad to say about this sucker. It was done perfectly. .
It was also done to Jeff Beck standards. It is not conventional, yet it is no so far out that one can’t totally get into it. It is not the same as everything else…yet it is not as different as one might think. It is music. It is cars. It is passion. It is creativity…it is Jeff Beck.
File this one under ‘do not miss.’
