The Midnight Special was part of many teenagers’ lives when it was on the air.  The format mixed many genres of music, and had stars as hosts with Wolf Man Jack as an emcee.  The music was played live on stage, and the lineup was always a mix of whoever was popular during the day.  Country artists performed on the show with hard rockers and pop stars.   

Star Vista and Time Life have now taken Burt Sugarman's groundbreaking show and chopped it up, giving fans a few wonderful choices.  The ultimate experience is just under a hundred bucks and contains 11 discs. There is also a six-disc set and a single disc available as well. 

Watching these classic performances by acts as diverse as Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, Earth Wind & Fire, ELO, Helen Reddy, AC/DC, REO Speedwagon, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and The Village People is a trip down memory lane that just can't be duplicated.

If you grew up into ‘70s or early ‘80s The Midnight Special was just something that you had to watch: Top bands playing top hits from artists all over the map.  If you are too young then you have to peep this out to see what you missed out on the first time around.

This collection has interviews with some of the guys now, in the modern day, reflecting back to the show.  And the music…did we mention the music? 

This is a time machine, baby.  Pick this one up and go back and relive the best musical time on the planet!
