Rating: B

Eli Cook is keeping blues rock alive and well. He's doing such a damn fine job of it that many of his peers are taking note, and even making appearances on his latest release. We're talking guys like Leslie West of Mountain, Pat Travers, Artimus Pyle (Lynyrd Skynyrd), Harvey Mandel, Eric Gales, Rod Piazza, and Jorgon Carlson of Gov't Mule. If you have not heard of Eli Cook, then you need to find out what you've been missing, and discover why so many great musicians are taking notice.

Eli is true to his talents and taste. He writes his songs from the heart and his solos from the fingertips. He plays well, and evokes a spirit of guitar playing that seems long gone in this day and age. It's solid, passionate, and loose, yet tight and together all at the same time. The emphasis is on the songs, yet the solos are like mini-compositions within them.

This is a solid album, and one that deserves to be heard. The guests on the album are a great testament to this young man's talent, yet they don't overshadow his voice. Nope, Eli's heart and soul come through loud and clear. . . . the rest is the icing on this blues rock cake.
