Eric Clapton somehow always seems to be at the forefront of real music stuff that goes on everywhere in the world. From the Yardbirds to Cream to his solo career to the MTV era Unplugged album. Anything Clapton touches seems to shine on forever.
Now a two disc + DVD version of his classic Unplugged album has been released, and it is just as it was expected to be- a masterpiece. The guy just has that IT factor, and he is never going to run out of the Mojo needed to keep him an icon. This time around he was doing it acoustically, and the original album and performance is classic; this format really brought the whole MTV Unplugged thingy to a new level.
Today, one gets the original concert on CD along with a bonus CD of outtakes, as well as a DVD of the rehearsal that was done before the actual show. Amazing. Brilliant. Damn it, I want to say SOMETHING bad, but the fact is this sucker is truly a huge slab of musical art and mastery.
So, without further ado, just go buy the CD and DVD set and see and hear for yourself what I have been feebly trying to explain. When it’s good, it’s good. When it’s great, it’s great and when its Clapton, it’s incredible.
