San Francisco, California in 1968 was the Hippie Palace of the World.  Famous for bands like the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane and Big Brother and the Holding Company, the scene was alive with the youth movement of the day, which was sex, drugs, rock and roll, and, of course, peace.  Music was a big part of the movement and while they were not as big as the aforementioned bands, Quicksilver Messenger Service was a top draw for the day.

This rare performance, pulled from the iconic musical venue The Fillmore West, is a time capsule of what things were like back in the San Francisco days.  Purple Pyramid Records, a division of Cleopatra Records, has unearthed a true gem in this performance as it features the classic two guitar lineup up of Gary Dunan and John Cipollina tearing it up through the bands most known songs including “Pride Of Man,” “Acapulco Gold & Silver,” and “Light Your Windows” and an amazing version of the blues classic “Who Do You Love?” 

The liner notes were superbly written by music historian Dave Thompson and the digipak also includes rare photographs.
