Alternative rock band MIGGS is looking at the new year with a fresh perspective and forward-thinking approach. After sustaining a successful career in the music industry for 10+ years, which includes a performance on “Good Morning America,” five full-length albums, several commercial and TV show syncs, and shows with Candlebox, Cowboy Mouth, Scott Weiland, and Plain White T's, among others, the band--Don Miggs (Vocals/Guitar), John Luzzi (Guitar/Vocals), Michael Lombardo (Bass/Vocals) and Walker Adams (Drums/Vocals)--has decided to adopt a new model for 2015 in order to get music out in a more timely manner to their fans. miggs will digitally release two new tracks each month (one for free) for 12 consecutive months, their version of a Digital 45, leading up to a full-length album later this year.

“Digital 45 really gives us the latitude to just go for it each month,” shares DON. “We aren't tied to a specific ‘sound’ of an album and we can use different producers and mixers. It's like that old etch-a-sketch toy. Erase what you've done and make it up all over again! Sounds fun to me!”

The first track from the string of releases, “Passing Through,” exclusively premiered recently (1/23) on ArtistDirect.com. Check out the song here. The churning and emotive track is available now on iTunes and all other digital retailers via Elm City Music, in partnership with Caroline. Of the new song, DON explains “‘Passing Through’ is an appropriate first release of 2015. It's a song about cleansing the soul, I suppose, and freeing yourself of the BS life can weigh on you. I've lost some good friends this past year and this one is for them.”

In addition to the conventional single release of “Passing Through,” each month miggs will offer a free b-side song download via Twitter. This month the band is gifting “Broken and Beautiful” in exchange for a re-tweet. For more information on the free song download, follow miggs at @miggsband.

The Tampa-based foursome is embracing all opportunities available as part of the digital direction the music industry is headed towards. Recently miggs hosted an online “Happy Hour” show via StageIt, allowing them to connect with their fans nationwide and reveal their new plan efficiently and directly.

“Stage It was a great first look for people into what we are trying to do this year,” DON explains. “We got to test several brand new songs and float the ‘Digital 45’ idea, both to great response. We also invited a few fans to come hang live, which made it feel like a ‘real’ experience.”

The group is looking forward to blazing a new trail in the rock world. While successive single releases and online concerts are more common in the EDM and pop genres, rock still generally maintains an older school of thought approach when it comes to touring and releasing music in album format. miggs is excited about the new music to come and is currently in the studio working with Tom Higgenson of the Plain White T’s who is co-producing several new tracks.
