Spring 2015 Sees The Temperance Movement Spread To The US
UK rockers The Temperance Movement are only just wrapping up their latest tour in Europe but they are not letting the grass grow under their feet as they have announced a host of US dates in the spring supporting Blackberry Smoke.
Just over a year has passed since the release of the band’s self-titled debut album. Despite taking their name from the 19th century social movement that urged moderation in the consumption of alcohol, the band’s sound is awash with the feel-good, blues-infused rock n’ roll that stirs echoes of The Rolling Stones, The Black Crowes or Free.
The Temperance Movement play warm-toned, note-perfect classic rock. Each instrument is allowed to breathe and every track is decorated by Phil Campbell’s soulful vocals—he might just have one of the best voices in rock at the moment.
To celebrate the record’s success—it reached number 12 in the UK charts—a deluxe edition of the disc has recently been released. The two versions sandwiched a 2014 schedule of non-stop touring, highlights of which include opening for The Rolling Stones, playing at large UK festivals and winning the “Best New Band” award at the Classic Rock magazine awards.
Bassist Nick Fyffe told Classic Rock magazine of his meeting with their legendary frontman Mick Jagger while touring with the Stones, “We sat on sofas around a coffee table chatting about this and that. It was such a surreal experience that I wouldn’t have been at all surprised if Elvis had popped his head round the door.”
The news is out that the UK’s hardest working band have now been added to the bill on Blackberry Smoke’s mammoth Holding All the Roses tour next year. You can find here a wide range of tickets for all concerts and it is on stage where bands such as The Temperance Movement really come alive, regularly receiving widespread acclaim from critics.
Starting February 18, the extensive tour takes in over 30 dates, runs until May and is one not to be missed.
In between such a busy schedule, The Temperance Movement have somehow managed to work on their eagerly awaited second album which should see the light in 2015.
